How to change NAT status – macOS

If your node shows Strict NAT, follow these steps to improve connectivity.

For NAT concepts and all available methods, refer to:

1. Check network configuration

  1. Ensure your Mac is connected to a stable network

  2. Avoid restrictive networks (mobile hotspots, some public WiFi)

2. Check macOS firewall

  1. Open System Settings

  2. Go to Network → Firewall

  3. Ensure the firewall is not blocking required connections

3. Apply router level fixes

To improve NAT type:

  1. Enable UPnP

  2. Or configure port forwarding

  3. Or use DMZ (last resort)
